Custom Vibration Creator

So yes, I was one of the 4 million people that got an iPhone4S over the weekend. And yes Siri is awesome. And yes it is super fast. And yes the camera is baller. And yes your not supposed to start sentences with and…

But I wanted to write a post on some of the cool features for iOS5 since that is available on all phones since the 3GS. I know it has been out for a week but I waited for my new phone to make the jump, I also updated the wife’s 3GS over the weekend. Here are a few of the gems I am really liking:

  • You can now take pictures with the volume button! No more trying to find the button to get a high quality pic of yourself*.
  • You can also get to the camera quickly while your iphone is sleeping by double tapping the home button, you will notice a camera button next to the slider.
  • Notifications are also very nice. If your phone is locked and you get a notification you can swipe to the right and it will take you to the app. You can also drag down from the top of the screen to see your notifications.
  • The weather app has some nice updates as well. When you launch the app it will automatically show you local weather. You can also tap on the day and see hour by hour weather.

Those are a few things I like, but here is the biggie! As a person that keeps my phone on vibrate 99% of the time custom ringtones don’t do much for me. But now you can do custom vibration tones for different contacts! My favorite site Lifehacker tells you how in their article today: How to Create Contact-Specific Vibrations and Enable LED Notifications in iOS 5. By the title you can probably tell it shows you how to do LED notifications as well…

What do you like best? With something like 250 new features, I am sure I am missing some good ones. Let us know in the comments or on Facebook or Twitter and get entered into the layPhone giveaway.

*I am a little mad that this came out a few days after I found out a nifty trick, the iPhone actually doesn’t take a picture until you release the button on the screen. Wish I would have known that 4 years ago.
