If you’re like me, you add a lot of songs to your Apple Music library. While Apple does a pretty good job of helping you sort things by playlists, artists, albums, and songs, it doesn’t take long for your library screen to become a mess.
With iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and MacOS Tahoe, Apple has made things just a little bit easier by letting users pin their favorite music. Let’s walk through the process of how it’s done.
For iPhones, you’ll need to tap the “Library” tab along the bottom of the screen. Once there, you will see the usual folders: Playlists, Artists, Albums, Songs. For this example, tap the Albums section.
Next, just tap and hold on one of the albums listed and a menu will pop up. Inside that menu, an option named “Pin Album” option will be listed. Tap that option.
If you go back to the main library screen, you now see the album you selected appear at the top of the screen. Nice job! You can add up to six items here. You can even change the order of the items by dragging them around.
In addition to the albums, you can even pin individual songs, artists, or playlists.
To pin albums even faster, you can select any of the albums that appear in the recent list on the main library screen.
But what about you iPad and Mac? While you can still pin items in Apple Music for iPad and Mac, things do work a bit differently.
You still need to find the “Library” section, but on these devices it is located in the left sidebar. If you have pinned albums on another device, a new selection will appear under the “Library” header titled, you guess it, “Pins.” Otherwise, it won’t be listed until an actual pin is created.
Like on iPhone, just find an album, playlist, song, or artist that has been added to your library. Then, tap and hold the item, and choose the “Pin” option. The items you choose to pin should now be listed in the “Pins” section under the “Library” header.
Oh, before I forget, the fist time you try to add a pinned album, a pop up will appear. It will say “Turn on Download Pins? All pinned music will automatically download to this device.” You can choose “Turn On” or “Not Now.”
Pinning content from your library can even be done via Apple Music on the web.
